Future for Geothermal energy
Geothermal energy is currently considered among the best forms of renewable energy. At present it provides only a small fraction of the world's energy, however experts predict that use of this energy source will rapidly increase in the future due to its numerous beneficial social, economic and environmental impacts.
Another reason why this energy source is expected to play an important role in the future is the massive technological advances in drilling and pumping techniques being made by engineers across the world - we are becoming more and more efficient at harnessing and capturing renewable energy sources. Engineers have also designed 'binary cycle' plants that only emit water vapor. And improved technology means lower costs.
Due to the stability, positive impacts and improved technology of geothermal energy, some analysts have predicted that geothermal will account for up to 1/6 of the world's energy supply in the coming century- a phenomenal proportion for one energy source on its own.
